Do you wish to recharge your batteries and soak up the sun before the beginning of the cold months? Where else would you go for an autumn holiday than South Tyrol? The landscape presents itself in all its colorful glory when you go hiking in autumn on the Alpe di Siusi in the Dolomites. While the already cold air gives clear views into the far distance, the still warm sun bathes the autumn tones in a very special light. This makes hiking in the holiday region Alpe di Siusi a particular attraction in autumn. You can start your walk just in front of our farm. Many hiking paths run by our farm and end up at Siusi allo Sciliar, Castelrotto, San Michele, Tagusa, Marinzen, Siusi, Fiè or Alpe di Siusi. Therefore, the mountain farm Ronsol is a great place for hiking on the Alpe di Siusi and around Castelrotto.

Events in the Alpe di Siusi holiday region
Autumn in South Tyrol is by no means a dull, but a highly varied season with many exciting events. You may look forward to many events in the Alpe di Siusi holiday region during your autumn holiday. On the first Saturday in October, there is the ceremonial transhumance of the cattle (the cattle drive) from the mountain pastures into the valley, with a folksy festival in Compatsch. All the farmers gather to drive their cows from the Alpe di Siusi. Embellished with decorations, this is a proud day for the farmers, who take their animals back home to the farms for the winter. On this day, our Grandpa Gottlieb walks with his goats and brings them back home. On the next day, the first Sunday in October, there is the harvest festival, when local people gather in traditional costumes to thank God for the harvest with a procession in Castelrotto.

The big Kastelruther Spatzenfest, an event featuring this famous musical group every year during the second weekend in October, has become a tradition and is an absolute must for many fans from all over Europe. The Kastelruther Spatzen love their fans and their homeland, and by way of thanks, they put on this big party each year so that they and many other artists from the area can entertain the crowds. We would suggest you combine your autumn hiking holidays in South Tyrol with a visit to a concert at the Kastelruther Spatzenfest.

A must during your autumn holiday in the South Tyrol
As soon as the trees and bushes in South Tyrol turn colorful, it is time for Törggelen. The Törggele-farms (wine-growing businesses) in our area invite you to enjoy delicacies and music in a sociable setting. Young wines are enjoyed alongside hearty cheese and meats platters, typical farmer foods and roasted chestnuts. People move from farm to farm, eating and drinking on their way. Perhaps the best known of these are the Isarco Chestnut Trail and the Oachner Höfe Trail, which bring together gastronomy and hiking in South Tyrol and mark a special experience during your holiday. There are many wine festivals in South Tyrol during the autumn. For shopping and discovering there are farmers’ markets on the Alpe di Siusi, in Val Gardena and in Val Pusteria.
