Summer holidays
on a farm
in South Tyrol
at 1280 meters
…
South Tyrol is located in a moderate climate zone. Summer holidays can be very hot even in the valley. Nevertheless, the heat of the summer is easier to bear on our farm “Ronsol” because it lies at 1280 meters. A refreshing dip in the open-air swimming pool at Telfen is only five minutes away, or you may visit the idyllic Fiè Lake. The location of our farm is ideal as a starting point for hikes on the Alpe di Siusi and in the Dolomites.
Touring the mountains around
our farm Ronsol near Castelrotto…
Different hiking trails pass by our farm, leading to Tagusa, San Michele, Castelrotto or Marinzen. Marinzen is a place to while away the hours with a large play area in the open air, many animals to stroke, duck ponds and many deck chairs. For those who really want to stretch their legs, there is the itinerary up to the alpine hut Arnika, the Bullaccia Hut and Frommer and back to Marinzen. Numerous hiking paths, suitable for a stroll or a more challenging hike or climbing tour, await you here in the unique Alpe di Siusi landscape. From Compatsch, there is a path up to Mount Sciliar. Three hours of walking will bring you to the Sciliar Hut at 2475 meters. On the way down, experienced hikers should take a short detour over the Malga Sessel and the Malga Tuff to the idyllic Fiè Lake, which is a place to cool off after a tough walk. Climbers can head too many routes up to level VII at the Santner Peak. These are just some of the many options open to mountain enthusiasts in the Castelrotto area. If you do not wish to head off by yourself, guided mountain and climbing tours depart from Castelrotto or Siusi allo Sciliar.
Bike riding and running
in the Dolomites
…
The bike regions Alpe di Siusi and Val Gardena
There are around 1000 kilometers of biking trails in the bike regions Alpe di Siusi and Val Gardena – for all ages and abilities. Between altitudes of 700 meters and 2540 meters, there are 33 varied routes of different difficulty levels around the Alpe di Siusi.
Running with
breath-taking scenery region
…
Twenty perfectly signposted running routes of differing difficulty levels and lengths are here for runners. Eight of these, with breath-taking scenery, are at between 1800 metres and 2300 metres on the Alpe di Siusi. Twelve routes between 900 metres and 1100 metres take runners around the mountain villages of Castelrotto, Siusi allo Sciliar and Fiè allo Sciliar.
Enjoy an excursion on horseback
or have a go at “flying”…
Our unique natural landscape is also perfect for discovering the region on horseback. The riding stables not far from our farm in Castelrotto near the Alpe di Siusi offer courses and trainings for children, beginners and aficionados. However, it is not only on horseback that you can check out the Alpe di Siusi. Take off, soar and enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Dolomites. Paragliding in South Tyrol is a real possibility for flight novices with an experienced tandem pilot.
Golf in the Dolomites…
A recommendation for all golfers is the 18-hole course at Siusi allo Sciliar. Not far from our farm, it is open from April until November. It will be an exciting experience for you enjoying a game that is probably unique with its panoramic view.
Cultural highlights for your summer holidays at the farm…
There is a great variety of culture, too, if you choose to spend your holidays on the mountain farm Ronsol on the Alpe di Siusi. You may visit the Ötzi Museum or the Museum of Modern Art, the Castles Prösels and Trostburg, the Castelvecchio and Salegg Ruins. Many of the churches bring joy to lovers of old and modern art alike. The Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride takes place in memory of Oswald von Wolkenstein, whose home was at the Castelvecchio ruin in the 15th century. The memorial horseback riding festival, which takes place each year at the beginning of June, brings together over thirty teams, each consisting of four riders, to complete diverse disciplines. All tournament locations between Castelrotto and the Prösels Castle are easy to reach from our mountain farm Ronsol.
And there is one or two things going
on in the evening
…
For all the night owls among our guests, there is a great variety of activities in the evenings in the villages and towns of South Tyrol. In Castelrotto and Siusi allo Sciliar there are exciting witches’ nights and the very popular Knödel parties. The summer months give rise to many evening parties in South Tyrol’s towns and villages, with music and cheer.
